She was the daughter of the late Catherine and Patrick Canavan. Catherine was preceded in death by Peter E. Moran, her beloved husband of sixty-one years. She also was preceded in death by her elder son, Peter Jr., her brothers Richard and Edward Canavan and her sister M. Emily Gyula. Catherine was born and raised in Jersey City and, together with Pete, raised their family in Clark. The couple retired to Whiting in 1979 and relocated to their new home at St. Francis in 1998. Catherine is survived by her daughter Karen (Warren) Schmitt of Long Grove, Illinois; her son Glenn (Celeste) Moran of Mendham; her daughter-in-law Kathleen Moran of Pequannock; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also mourning the loss of this kind and spirited woman are Judith Moran and many devoted nieces and nephews. Her faith, her family and her friends made up the fabric of Catherine’s life. Visitation for Catherine Moran will be held on Sunday, May 31, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 1 in the Chapel at St. Francis Residential Community, 122 Diamond Spring Road, Denville. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
