Dr. John "Jack" MacDonald, 52 passed away peacefully on May 19 at his mother's home in Denville, he was surrounded by the love of family following a courageous 16 year journey with Brain Cancer.
A doctor of Clinical Psychology, Jack was a leading advocate for consumer rights working with clients at Westchester Developmental Services, Rockland Psychiatric Center and St. Vincent's Hospital. Jack conducted countless training sessions for staff working with people with intellectual disabilities.
He grew up in Colonia, NJ, graduated from Fordham University and Long Island University before receiving his doctorate from Farleigh Dickinson University.
He was predeceased by his father, John "Jack" MacDonald Sr. and daughter Laura.
He is survived by Mary Jean MacDonald and their 3 sons - John, Ryan & Kyle of Mt. Kisco. He is also survived by his mother Joan Kellenberger of Denville, six brothers and sisters Jim and (Leslie) - Blairstown, Kevin - Los Angeles, Bob and (Tracy) - Flemington, Glenn and (Janna) - Conyers, GA, Mary and (Peter) Catalano - Manlius, NY and Colleen and (Jim) Trainor of Madison along with many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, Mountain Lakes, NJ at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22nd. Friends may visit with the family at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com on Thursday, May 21 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
