Harry A. Salle, 83, of Denville, NJ died on Saturday April 25, 2009 at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Denville, NJ.
Mr. Salle was born in Newark, NJ on Dec. 5, 1925, son of the late August and Margaret Salle. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, John and Robert and his sister Margaret.
He is survived by his sister in law, Rita Salle, his two nieces Elaine Mallar and Margaret Petersen, his three nephews, Robert, James and Joseph Salle, and by John Phillips his long time friend and companion.
He served in the US Navy during World War II and was on the pier in Tokyo when General MacArthur went out to the USS Missouri to sign the Japanese surrender. He was employed for 35 years by General Motors Acceptance Corporation in New York City, NY and retired many years ago. He summered in Denville for over 30 years and has resided full time in Denville for the last 17 years.
Harry’s funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please visit web site and light a candle in memory of Harry), on Wednesday April 29th at 9:00am for a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial service at St. Mary’s Church, Denville, NJ. Interment services at Denville Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday April 28th at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
