Eleanor Laansma, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4th. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 8th from 2-6 with a Service of Remembrance beginning at 5:30 PM at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. A Private Burial will be held on Monday at the Brigadier General Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Eleanor was born in 1924 to the late James and Irene Hyland. After her schooling, she enlisted into the US Coast Guard where she proudly served her country during WW II. After her honorable discharge, she married Donald Laansma and the couple started their family. As her four daughters grew, she began working as a Travel Agent, a career which she loved and was afforded to see the world through the years. She worked for Conn Travel and Long Travel for many years before her retirement. Eleanor stayed active with the military for many years and was very proud of her time in the service. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Predeceased by her husband Donald, her grandson James Morris, and her sister Eileen Hyland; she is survived by her daughters Eileen Farrell (Patrick), Donna Morris (Bob) , Laurie Morris; and Marilyn Zagorski (Glenn); her ten adoring grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
