Marguerite (Gretchen) Meloney
Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother
Marguerite (Gretchen) Meloney died peacefully Wednesday, January 21st at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville, NJ after a brief illness. She was 90.
Born April 12, 1918, she was the daughter of Frank W. and Pearl S. Elmiger. She was born and raised in Bayonne NJ and employed by the ESSO Oil Company after graduating from Duke University in 1940.
As the wife of a United Methodist Minister, her life was fulfilled through service in the churches they served. She was active in the United Methodist Women's group, enjoyed singing in the choir, and participated in numerous church activities.
When not participating in NJ church activities, she enjoyed the shores of Lake Kanasatka, the loons, mountains and gardens at her summer cottage "Moss Bank" in Moultonborough, NH where she summered with her husband for 56 years.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Rev. Robert E. Meloney she is survived by daughter Meredith Olver and husband Clark of Rockaway, NJ, son Kirk Meloney and wife Jean of Center Harbor, NH, grandchildren Caitlin and Megan Olver, Nathan and Laura Meloney. She is also survived by her brother Frank W. Elmiger, Jr. and wife Flora of Whiting, NJ.
Memorial services will be held in the spring in NJ and NH (dates to be determined).
