Helen Kijek, 86, of Shrewsbury, Vermont passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Mountain View Genesis in Rutland, VT. Prior to moving to Vermont 10 years ago, Mrs. Kijek lived in Denville. She was born in Manhasset, New York, April 17, 1922 the daughter of Samuel and Helen (Ostick) Davidovitch. She was married to Joseph Kijek who died in 1969.
Mrs. Kijek was employed by the Brooklyn Navy Yard and with "Building Blocks of Learning" Daycare Center in New Jersey. Helen loved children, enjoyed gardening and acrylic painting.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Macaluso and her husband, Richard of Shrewsbury; three grandchildren, Laura Macaluso Schultz and her husband, Kevin of Escondido, CA, Marie Glennon and her husband Raymond of Seattle, WA and Luis Macaluso of New Jersey; one great granddaughter, Caroline Frances Schultz. Mrs. Kijek was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph and by a son, Joseph Kijek, Jr. and by two brothers, Samuel and Edward Davidovitch, and two sisters, Olga Tamm and Sophie Davidovitch.
A service will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ followed by a graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. The family will be receiving friends and family at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Road, Denville, NJ, Friday, January 16 from 7pm to 9pm.
