Obituary of Gerard J. Rota

Gerard (Jerry) Rota, aka Red Rota, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 7, 2009.
Born in Newark, where he lived for 54 years, Jerry then resided in Union for 28 years before moving to Denville in 2004.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
Jerry retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1984.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine (nee Slimko) in 1999.
His memory and love will live on in the hearts of his sons Gerard Rota of Howell, Michael Rota and his wife Beth of Harrington Park and his daughter, Mary Susan Aquino and her late husband Guy of Denville. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Jennifer Rota, Victoria Aquino, Joseph Aquino and Carolyne Rota. He is survived by his sister Lena Montefusco of Denville, formerly of Bloomfield and was a loving uncle of many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is the dear son of the late Joseph and Pasqualina Rota (nee Cordasco), beloved brother of the late Chester Rota, Mary Capozzi, Paul Rota, Minnie Rota, Jean Rosania, Josephine Walsh and Theresa Lynch.
Jerry will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His warmth and wit will be missed by all.
Funeral from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ www.normandean.com on Saturday January 10, at 10AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church in Denville at 11:30AM. Friends may visit on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
