JAMES F. McCRUDDEN JR. OBITUARY
James F. McCrudden Jr. died on May 13th at St Clare’s Hospital. He was born in Yonkers, NY in 1926 to James F. McCrudden Sr. and Catherine Powers. As a young family man, he moved to Indian Lake, Denville, NJ in 1955 and to Rockaway, NJ in 2003.
Jim received a BBA from Iona College and attended NYU Graduate School. He served in the army during World War II and the Korean War as an Infantry Platoon Leader and Company Commander. He was awarded the Infantry Combat Badge, The Purple Heart and two bronze stars. Later, he worked as an accountant for Price Waterhouse, as Corporate Controller for Chemway Corporation, Eastern Wine Company and for Bobro Corporation. He then joined his son in his sporting goods business, retiring in 1988.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was known for his welcoming spirit, kind heart and incredible compassion. Always a caring individual, Jim spent a great deal of his life volunteering to help others. He served as a volunteer AARP Tax Aide and was also a Medicare Counselor at St. Clare’s Hospital, both for almost 25 years. He was Secretary for the Denville Men’s Senior Club for many years, in addition to being a member of American Legion Post 390 and Our Lady of the Lakes Council Knights of Columbus.
He was an incredible father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years Jane (Tansey) and his children Jim (Carrie), Catherine Flood (Andrew), Lisa True (John) and Ira and his partner David Ellis; eleven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and John; survived by his sister Alice Dunn (Edward), brother Lawrence (Patricia) and sisters-in-law Lynn and Carol.

Friends may visit Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ on Sunday May 19th from 3:00 to 7:00. A liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s of Denville Church on Monday May 20th, Interment will follow at Denville Cemetery.
