Ellen M. Larcom 71, daughter of the late Charles and Helen, passed away on October 15, 2008, supported by her loving family, following an 18 year battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Morristown and was raised in Parsippany, before moving to Fox Hills in Rockaway Twp., NJ. Ellen was a graduate of Boonton High School and Montclair State College, and also pursued studies at Seton Hall University.
Miss Larcom worked in the Pequannock Township School District for 35 years, as a Latin Teacher and foreign language supervisor. During that time, she earned a Masters Degree in Classics at Trinity College, Hartford, CT. She was a member and Past President of the New Jersey Classical Association. She was selected as the Edna White Rome Scholar for 1986 and spent the summer studying in Rome.
She is survived by her brothers, Charles Jr., of Morris Plains, NJ and Paul Larcom of Hobe Sound, FL. And her sister Anne Badia of Ringwood, NJ. She is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews and 26 grand nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 18, at 10AM. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Friday October 17, from 2-4 & 7-9PM. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Bernard's Church 22 St. Bernard Dr. Rockaway Twp., NJ 07866.
