Obituary of Robert J. Cuneo

Robert Joseph Cuneo, 79, died on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at St. Clares Hospital in Denville, NJ. Bob was born and raised in Rockaway Boro by his parents Andrew Joseph and Rose Cuneo, and was proud to work at the family business "Cuneo Store" on Main St. in Rockaway. later moving to Denville in 1957. In his youth he was an avid baseball, softball, and football player in several Morris County leagues. He then enlisted in the Army in 1945 and was proud to serve during the Korean War. He was a member of Laborers Union Local #519 in Boonton, NJ since 1952 where he served as the Business Manager until his retirement in 1995, he is a life member. Bob married Ann Poulos, who's family ran the Poulos Farm in Denville and he enjoyed farming as a past time. He also enjoyed driving through agricultural farm areas throughout the states. His wife Ann Poulos died on March 1, 1990. He was a member of the Roc-Den American Legion Post #175 in Rockaway, and a life member of the Denville VFW Post #2519. He was predeceased by his brother, Andrew Cuneo in 1988. He is survived by his children and their spouses Robert and Marie Cuneo of Thornhill, TN, Mary Ann Cuneo and her husband William O'Keefe of Budd Lake, and James and Diane Cuneo of Denville. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Nicholas and Chelsea Cuneo also of Denville, as well as his cousins, and nieces and nephews, a sister in-law and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial Service will be held on Saturday Oct. 11, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilias R. C. Church on Church St. in Rockaway, NJ. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ. www.normandean.com.
