Matilda D. Horwood (Deile) passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital on January 28, 2006. She was 90 years old
Born in Hoboken she had summered in the Indian Lake section of Denville, NJ for 85 years, and became a full time resident of Denville 51 years ago
She was a self-employed professional seamstress her whole life up until only a few years ago. She had also sold Avon products for 15 years.
Matilda was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Hoboken where she was the superintendent of the primary department. She also sang in the church choir, where she met her husband.. She was a former member of the Morris County Womens Republican Club, and an active member of the Morris County American Revolution Special Events committee. Matilda was a member of the Eastern Star in Hoboken, and a Docent at the Denville Historical Society. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women till she was 89 years old
She is pre deceased by her husband the late George C. Horwood in 1974.
Her children Barbara Huber of Rockville, MD, and Patricia A. Horwood-Miller of the Whippany section of Hanover Township, NJ survive her. Her Grandchildren Todd & Tara Huber of Rockville, MD also survive her, as well as her siblings Gloria Bush of Woodcliff Lake, NJ and Andrew Deile of Battle Creek, MI. Nieces & Nephews also survive her
Funeral services will be held at the Denville United Methodist Church on Thursday February 2, at 11AM. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ www.normandean.com.
