Ethel L. Kohler, 88, Denville, NJ, and formerly of Sunbury, PA passed away on September 23, 2008 at her home. She was born on December 6, 1919, the daughter of the late Chester C. Briner and Mary Briner (Smith). She was the widow of Milton J. (Bub) Kohler. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clair S. Briner of Sunbury, PA., and Carl Briner of Selinsgrove, PA. Surviving are nieces and nephews: Edwin S. Briner of Harrisburg, PA., Ruth E. Ripple (Briner) of Sunbury, PA., John A. Briner of Sunbury, PA., and Lisa M. Smith (Briner) of Carlisle, PA.. and several great nieces and nephews: Cory Hoover, Christopher Hoover (Sunbury, PA.), Christina N. Briner (Monroeville, PA), Edwin J. Briner (Ft. Lauderdale, FL.), and Alesha M. Briner, Andrew M. Briner, and Morgan E. Briner (Sunbury, PA.). Ethel was a homemaker and earlier employed in New York City. She enjoyed nature and especially the many many, many pets she had over the years, including birds, cats and dogs. Friends, neighbors, and family may call on Saturday, October 4, 2008, from 2 to 4 PM. At the Norman Dean Funeral Home, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. 07834, www.normandean.com (please light a candle in memory of Ethel on web site), a service will follow at 4 PM. Burial will be at the discretion of relatives at her late husband’s resting place in East Ridge Cemetery, Clifton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local humane society shelter or the ASPCA.
