Melissa E. Beiermeister, 51, of Boonton Township passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. Beiermeister and the devoted mother of Robert C. (Robby) Beiermeister. Melissa was born on Staten Island, NY, the daughter of Elizabeth Etgen and the late Robert F. Long, Sr. She was a graduate of Morris Catholic High School, class of 1980 and Fairfield University, class of 1984. She then went on to receive a Master’s Degree from Montclair State University. Mrs. Beiermeister was a math teacher at Clifton High School for over 20 years and also tutored privately. She received many accolades for her ability to relate to her students. She was very involved in her son Robby’s activities - golf, karate, Mt. Lakes High School. Melissa loved fashion and designed costume jewelry. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Boonton. Melissa was predeceased by her grandmother, Elizabeth Etgen, her father Robert F. Long, Sr, and her nephew Robert F. Long III, all of whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her loving husband Robert A. (Bob) Beiermeister; her son Robby, a freshman at Mt. Lakes High School; her mother, Elizabeth Long of New Smyrna Beach, FL; two brothers, Robert F. Long, Jr and his wife Barbara of Mt. Tabor, NJ; and Richard Long and his wife Lisa of Rutland, VT. Melissa had several nieces and nephews. Rebecca (Long) Henry and her husband Richard of Arlington, VA; Kevin Long, Stephen Long, Kathleen Long all of Mt. Tabor; David Long and his wife Meghan of Denville; Morgan Long and his wife Lisa of VT, Pegeen Long and Michelle Long of VT, Rose Long of Manhattan; Amie Long of Boston; Michael Emmons of Brooklyn; and William Emmons of Burlington, VT. She had aunts and uncles and cousins and numerous friends. She was the epitome of kindness and left a tremendous heritage of good will to her son Robby. She will be missed. Visitation will be at Norman Dean Funeral Home (16 Righter Ave, Denville) on Sunday April 28, 2013 from 1 pm to 6 pm. The funeral Mass will be Monday April 29, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (205 Birch Street, Boonton) celebrated by Reverend Thomas Fallone (Father Tom) at 10 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Boonton Kiwanis First Aid Squad 150 Lathrop Avenue Boonton, NJ 07005.
