Gary W. Pedersen, 60, of Rockaway Borough, died Friday, May 27, 2005 in Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clares Hospital in Dover.
Born in Orange, Mr. Pedersen lived in Denville and Rockaway Borough for many years. He was a printer with Crum & Foster in Morristown and Parsippany for 20 years before retiring in the early 1990s. Mr. Pedersen was a residential manager for a privately-owned boarding house in Rockaway Borough from 1998 to 2005.
He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War era who served aboard the USS Guam as a guard and later, as an admirals assistant when he was stationed in Norfolk, VA in June, 1969. He received a National Defense Service Medal for his service.
Mr. Pedersen was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, based in Morris Plains and a longtime member of the American Legion Post in Denville.
Surviving are two parents, Martin and Marion Pedersen of North Caldwell; a son, Brian Pedersen of Clifton; a daughter, Tracy Pedersen of Lake Hopatcong; a former wife, Donna Lesh of Denville; and three sisters, Alice Knutson of Hershey, PA; Betsy Rodgers of Garden City, Long Island and Karen Frank of Shrewsbury, MA.
Funeral service at the Norman Dean Home for Services, Inc., 16 Righter Avenue, Denville (www.normandean.com) Wednesday 8:30 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, NJ Div. Inc., Morris County Unit, 669 Littleton Rd., Parsippany, NJ 07054. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 1 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home.
