Laurentse Ekeland, 91, died at her home in Parsippany, NJ on Monday May 23, 2005.
Mrs. Ekeland was born in Strvanger, Norway and came to the United States in 1924 and settled in Brooklyn, NY, she was a resident of Lake Parsippany, and Blairstown and for the last four years was a resident on Parsippany, NJ. Mrs. Ekeland was a Registered Nurse at the Norwegian Lutheran Hospital, Brooklyn, NY for many years. Mrs. Ekeland enjoyed knitting. She was a member of the Brooklyn Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Tranquility Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Ekelands husband predeceased her the late Bjarne Ekeland and her two sons Stanley and Donald Ekeland. Her son Raymond Ekeland and his wife Cathy of Washington, NJ survives her. She was the mother in Law of Patricia and Gladys Ekeland. She was the grandmother of Donna Tonnesen and her husband David, Sheryl Olsen and her husband Gordon and Richard Ekeland, and his wife Sheri and the great grandmother of Joshua, Kristian, & Faith Tonnesen, Sarah Olsen, and Olivia Ekeland.
The funeral service will be held on Friday May 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com Interment service at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday May 26th from 2-4 & 7-9p.m. In Lieu of flowers donations to Tranquility Seventh-day Adventist Church, P.O. Box 5, Tranquility, NJ 07879 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 400 West Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ 07801 would be appreciated.
