Obituary of John Owens

John J. Owens, formerly of Toms River, died in his 99th year of life.
He was born in Ballyscadane, Ireland and came to the United States in 1928.
Predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Elfriede, his daughter Patricia Owens Karpick, and his grandson, Gregory Karpick. Survived by his daughter Kathleen Banks, Grandchildren David and Lynn Karpick, Suzanne Karpick, Owen and Tara Banks, Claire and Steve Elias and 8 great-grandchildren.
Active in Irish American groups, he was honored by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore with the Order of St. Brendan award in 1994. He was also a fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He retired from Federated Department Stores in 1971.
Mass at St. Marys Church, Denville on Saturday February 12th at 11:00a.m. Interment immediately following at Denville Cemetery.
Donations to the Irish American Cultural Institute, 1 Lackawanna Place, Morristown, NJ in lieu of flowers.
