Phyllis Caruso, Loving Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma
Phyllis E. Caruso (nee Essbach), 92, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 . A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 25th at 11 am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 24th from 4-7 pm and Monday morning beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations in her memory be made to Holiday City at Berkeley, First Aid Squad, 100 Port Royal Drive, Toms River, NJ 08757.
Phyllis was born in Newark to the late George and Phyllis Essbach. She grew up in Jersey City before moving to Bloomfield in 1958, later retiring with her husband to Holiday City, Toms River in 1989. She married her husband Donald B. Caruso in 1939. Phyllis was a devoted wife for 70 years. She was an avid bowler, loved dogs, enjoyed Bermuda cruises and cherished her independence to the end. She worked at numerous positions in clerical accounting during her life in Bloomfield and Jersey City.
Predeceased by her husband Donald in 2008 and her brother George Essbach; she is survived by her sons Donald (Jo Ann) and Robert (Terry); her brother Richard Essbach (Claudia); her four loving grandchildren Donald Jr., Dominique Heilman (Peter), Daniel, and Amy Rose Caruso, and her great granddaughter Bianca Caruso.
