He was my Friend…. I am an American who has lived in Rio for 5 years and that is where I met Andrew.
Though I saw him only on his trips to Brazil, he was a man who left an impression on those who knew him. I thought of him as smart, daring, and he moved around Brazil like a whirlwind, or maybe a “Dust Devil”, for he had more than a little bit of Mischief in him.
I remember thinking he must have been a handful as a kid.
He traveled through many parts of the country, often to places not thought of as tourist destinations. He struck me as one who wanted to experience life to the fullest. This he certainly did. He picked up Portuguese rather easily, and he loved to meet new acquaintances. He felt quite at ease in places where he was the only non-Brazilian.
The last time I saw him in person, in Rio, he told me I would be seeing him less, for he suspected he had met the love of his life. Out last phone conversation was about an upcoming trip to the Philippines, when he asked some of my advice as to what to see and do there.
In this life we meet many nice, well intentioned people. Andrew was all that and more, for he was one of the memorable ones; one you will tells your friends about when you are comparing adventures. I can only imagine the vacuum left in the hearts of those who knew him better than I.
Safe journey my Friend…Until we meet again.

I've known Andrew for only A short time; actually my older brother attended Drew university with Andrew and we meet then but it was never more than a passing through gatherings. Recently I returned home (NJ) from a month long trip to Thailand. Prior to leaving I spoke with my brother Marco and asked if he had know of anyone who had any experience or knowledge on where I was going (Thailand) and the first person he suggested I speak with was Andrew. For the past month throughout my travels I was in contact with Andrew and he literally gave me step by step instructions as to what I was going to experience and gave me suggestions as to what to see and where to go. He was spot on and down to detail. He explained certain aspects of the trip in his captivating stories and continuously told me how much fun I was going to have (he was right and never spared a single detail). Thanks to Andrew I now have met the most beautiful person while in Thailand and I am now making plans to move back. I would have never met this person if it wasn't for Andrew telling me not to settle in one place to long and that there was so much more to see (he was right It was beautiful). When I returned home Andrew was eager to hear of my perspective on Thailand and we spoke on the phone for an hour or so trading stories and experiences that only someone who has been would know (as Andrew said to me at the end of our conversation "Bruno..... I think you caught the the Asian fever my friend hehehe...I told you so!". (You where right Andrew thanks for everything).
My love goes out to Andrews family and Ingrid for whom I may not know very well. I would like to let you know that I feel honored to have know such an extraordinary individual even if it may have been for a short period of time.

Bardach. Man, I wish we had kept in touch and that I would have had the grace to have tried to get in touch with you, so that we could have forgiven each other our petty squabbles. Because now, I hardly remember why we lost contact, but do remember the good times: "prom night," a Metallica show in New England, trips down to the shore, and various other hijinks where we would happily trade salacious jokes and laugh together. I'll miss you, and I hope you are joking around with your dad, enjoying a Guiness and a good cigar.

The weirdest thing happened when I came home today around 4pm. I had downloaded some of Andrew's pics from his Orkut site earlier to put on my Myspace page. When I came home and turned on my computer, a photo of his that I didn't even use was on my desktop background (the one of him in Thailand rowing a boat). He looked so happy there. It was so strange that I felt like he was saying that he's happy...he lived life, went all of the world and had great friends.
Though we usually only met up in the bars w/my friend John P, we did have some conversations via phone. We'll all miss you man! Way too young but at least you lived enough life for at least THREE people. Man... I've been around but wish I could go to all the places you've been.
We'll meet again soon homey... be at peace brother.

Andrew and I had good times together quad riding. Once we were getting chased by police he hit a tree and got cought. The police gave him a hard time trying to get my name. He said "I would rather get tickets then give up my freind".
I'll think about the good times we had each time I get on my quad.
God be with you.
