Obituary of Robert J. Wear

Robert J. Wear, 87, died on Saturday January 3, 2004 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clares Dover, NJ. He was born in Hazleton, Pa. and lived in North Arlington, NJ and moved to Denville in 1977. He received a BA in Industrial Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ in 1961, and went on to receive a Masters degree in Higher Education in 1964 from New York University. He had worked on his PhD. In 1941 Bob attended Casey Jones School of Aeronautics in Newark, NJ and received an airplanes and engine license. Later in 1946 he began teaching at the college, which later moved to LaGuardia Airport in New York. His career with the college spanned forty years where he had held several administrative positions, retiring as the Administrative Dean in 1986. He had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rockaway, where he was a church elder, and he sang in the church choir. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Marion V. Beam. A sister Alice B. Schmauch of Hazleton, Pa. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 10, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church 35 Church St. Rockaway, NJ 07866. Donations are being accepted to The Abiding Memorial Fund of the church.
