Obituary of Robert G. “Bert” Zimmerman

Robert G. Bert Zimmerman, 94, died on Saturday Sept. 13, 2003 at his home in Budd Lake, NJ.
Bert was born and raised in Newark, NJ and moved to Denville, and later to Parsippany, in 1958, until moving back to Denville in 1993, and then to Budd Lake in 1998.
Bert had worked as a package delivery driver for Bambergers Dept. Store in Newark in 1931, and was called into the Navy during WWII where he had served as a Navy Sea Bee.
Following the War he went back to Bambergers until the delivery department was purchased by U. P. S. Corp. He stayed on with UPS and became a Cashier / Clerk in 1958 and retired in 1975 after 44 years.
He had been an active member of the Denville V. F. W. Post #2519 and had served as a Post Commander in 1955.
He was also a Life Member of the Parsippany Vol. Ambulance Squad in Parsippany, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Madeline E. Madge nee Schoebel. His son and his wife Robert A. and Florence Zimmerman of Stanhope, a grandson Robert S. Zimmerman also of Stanhope, and a granddaughter Diane Zimmerman Rich, of Randolph, NJ. Five Great Grandchildren Casey, Holly, Connor, Elise, and Jesse.
Three brothers predeceased him Marcel, Edward, and Al.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday September 16, 2003 at 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
