Obituary of Wilbur F. “Bud” Downing Jr.

Wilbur F."Bud" Downing Jr., 74 , died at his home in Mt. Tabor section of Parsippany, NJ. He was born in Union, NJ and moved to Mt. Tabor, in 1951. He graduated from Huron College in Huron, South Dakota, in 1950 with a BS in Mathematics. He later went on to receive a Civil Engineering degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ. He had served as the Director of Public Works first in Parsippany, NJ from 1965 to 1975, then he went to work in Dover, NJ and finally working for South Brunswick Township, where he retired from in 1992. Bud had served on the Parsippany Town Council. He had held Licenses in; 1) Professional Civil Engineer, 2) Surveyor, 3) Planner, 4) and Construction Code Official. He had been a member of the Parsippany West Senior Citizens. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Phyllis J. nee Jorgensen. His four sons, Wilbur Downing III of Long Valley, NJ, William Downing of Mt. Tabor, NJ, Michael Downing of Little Falls, NJ, and Bruce Downing of Mt. Tabor, NJ. Three grandchildren, William Downing Jr., Bruce Downing Jr, and Veronica Wagner. A sister Patricia Haynes of N. C., and a Sister in-law Sonia Downing of McAfee, NJ. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Sept. 11, 2003 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
