Obituary of Gabriel Blackbird Emering
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Gabriel Blackbird Emering, who left this world far too soon on December 12, 2024, at the age of 14. His passing was a peaceful one in his home in Rockaway, New Jersey. Gabriel was a bright and creative soul whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on October 17, 2010, to Suzanne and Charles, Gabriel was a child who captivated everyone with his imagination and boundless creativity. From an early age, he demonstrated a passion for the arts, particularly in drawing and sculpture, where he loved to bring his fantastical visions to life. Gabriel had a special affinity for the darker side of the creative world, often drawing inspiration from the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, where he would spend hours sketching characters and inventing his own chilling creatures. He was a true master of his Lego sets, often finishing them in record time before deconstructing them to create grand, imaginative scenes of monsters versus man.
In addition to his artistic talents, Gabriel found joy in the outdoors, often spending time hiking and exploring nature. He was also an avid reader, especially drawn to graphic novels that fueled his creativity and love for storytelling.
Above all, Gabriel cherished the time spent with his family. He shared a deep bond with his mother, Suzanne, over their shared love of music and their adventures in the kitchen preparing their favorite meals. As a proud older brother, Gabriel adored his sister, Zoe, and always looked forward to their trips to Florida, where he could make precious memories with her and their father, Charles. These trips included unforgettable moments at Disney World, riding roller coasters together, and a particularly special visit to SeaWorld, where they enjoyed a day of fun with no lines and countless rides.
Gabriel’s kindness, curiosity, and vibrant spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him. He had a unique ability to bring light into the lives of others, and his legacy will live on in the many ways he inspired those around him.
He is survived by his loving family, his mother Suzanne McCrae (Michael), his father Charles Emering, Jr. (Cristina), his cherished sister, Zoe; and countless extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Gabriel was taken from us far too soon, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
If you would like to contribute to Gabriel’s memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable contribution to the Epilepsy Foundation so that they may continue helping children suffering with the same condition Gabriel did. Memorial donations can be made via inmemof.org.
Hours of public visitation for Gabriel will be held on Monday, December 16th, from 3 to 7 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services. Please join us in commemorating the life of this beautiful soul, and please use this time to share a memory, leave a condolence, or light a candle to allow Gabriel's light to continue to shine!
Gabriel, your creativity, warmth, and joy will never be forgotten. May you rest in peace, knowing that you were deeply loved and will always be missed.
