Obituary of Peggy Carrigg
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce that Peggy Carrigg died on Sunday at 3PM in her independent living home with family and the loving aids who cared around the clock for the past few months. Peggy fought hard to regain her strength after a long illness and finally is at peace.
She loved living at the Oaks in Denville and was very active with the resident committee serving as secretary and participating in the writing, artists and reading clubs. She was popular with the residents who loved her Irish sense of humor and caring ways. She loved traveling and had visited 49 states and over 20 countries in 4 continents with her long-time partner Jim Able. She loved doing things like riding a camel in Egypt or sleeping in an ice hotel in Norway or taking a donkey ride down the Grand Canyon. She loved to write stories, especially about family members from her childhood memories. She proudly displayed her artwork. She also loved keeping in touch with her many relatives in Galway, Ireland.
She was predecessor by her parents, Michael Carrigg (from Galway Ireland) and Margaret Mullaney Carrigg, her life companion Jim Able, her brother John Carrigg and her niece Emily Specchio.
She was loved by her sisters Mary Beth Carrigg and Eileen Specchio and her husband John, her niece Kate Barrientos and her Husband Joe. She had a special place in her heart for her grandnephew, Nolan and grandniece Emilia. She was well known for being the Easter Bunny every year.
She worked as a manager for NJ State Employment Agency and was active in her professional organization IAPES, for many years. She loved seeing her alumni from Holy Family Academy, Jersey City University and Rutgers where she attained a Masters degree in Public Administration. She will be deeply missed.
