Obituary of Victor John Urban

Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victor John Urban; a long-time Denville resident who passed away peacefully in his home on October 7th, 2024.

Victor was an incredible man who lived a full and beautiful life to the age of 97. He shared many years of love and laughter with his wife, Loretta, before her passing in January of 2024. Vic was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and served his country during World War II at the age of 17. His spirit of bravery and his commitment to his country will be forever remembered. Vic worked as a warehouse manager at Channel Lumber for many years before his retirement.

In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, taking trips to the casino, and collecting scratch-off tickets, hoping to win it big. Along with family, every Sunday, they could be found on the golf course, anxiously awaiting Loretta’s homemade feast when they made it home. Those who had the opportunity to know Vic would know that he had a stellar sense of humor, a generous heart, and a knack for making people feel special. He made friends everywhere he went and the memories that people have of him are now priceless. And though it brings us sadness to know his light is now gone from this world, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, reunited once more with his beloved Loretta. He leaves behind many family members that will now carry on his legacy of kindness and compassion.

A public visitation service for Victor will be held on October 16th, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services. A graveside service will take place after, at 2:15 PM at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1594 S Main St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18706. Please note that because of the distance we will be travelling, a procession will not be assembled and visitors should meet at the cemetery at 2 PM to gather for the service.
