Obituary of Frederick John Pierson

Please share a memory of Frederick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Frederick John
Pierson, a long-time Rockaway resident who passed away on July 26 th , 2024.

Frederick was born to the Pierson family on December 15 th , 1940, in
Morristown and was raised alongside his siblings in Rockaway. Frederick
graduated high school there and went on to join the United States Navy where he
served his country and traveled the world. It was here that he discovered his
talent for cooking as he acted as a cook on board one of his ships. This later
turned into a decades long career as a restauranteur, opening up Rockaway
Seafood in his hometown. Frederick also had a passion for fishing and was
affectionately know by friends as “Freddy Fish”. This hobby took his to lakes and
rivers all over the Eastern coast, always with a friend or two.

By his side through all of this was his beloved wife, Carrol Pierson. It is said
that the pair met at the Great Notch Inn, a New Jersey landmark, and fell in love
quickly. The pair brought a daughter into the world together and named her
Kimberley. When Frederick and Carrol were blessed with grandchildren they were
overjoyed. Frederick especially loved to connect to his two grandsons through
matches of card games and attended many sporting events over the years to
support them. Frederick loved his family dearly and time spent with them was
never time wasted.

And though we are saddened by the loss of this great man, we take comfort
in knowing that he is at peace. We look now to those who he leaves behind to
carry on his memory. Frederick’s survivors include his beloved wife, Carrol Pierson
(nee Nesbit), his daughter, Kimberley Scott and her husband Mark, and his
grandchildren, Trevor and Brendan Scott.
