I came home from work some 50 years ago and learned that our new neighbor also worked at Lipto some 30 miles from Parsippany. It was our good fortune to become friends for 25 years as Parsippany neighbors and another 25 years after we moved to Basking Ridge.
There are no better people than Karen and Jim and we are grateful for your friendship.

Karen was an avid reader of books related to any subject involving the word, garden, including biographies, mysteries, gardening, beautiful gardens, travel to gardens, etc. I met Karen when I started the Frelinghuysen garden book club. She was a super contributer and a devoted member, and took on the running of the book club with her dear friend Sally, when I left for Florida. During COVID, Karen arranged to ZOOM the monthly meetings so I and Sue could join. It was wonderful to see Karen and again learn so much from her. I was so sad to hear about Karen's passing as I, like all who were part of the book club, will miss her. Sincere condolences to Jim and other family and friends, Adrianne

I met Karen in 1969 when Jim was moved to Nebraska City, NE to work at the Lipton-owned Morton House Kitchens with my husband, Paul. They barely had time to unpack before they got word they would be moved to Galveston. I was the Chairman of "Antiques Display" at a major town event and I enlisted Karen to be on the Committee. I also asked her to model a beautiful antique gown for an article in the newspaper and she was beautiful in it! I remember the event so vividly, Karen posing for the photographer in my dining room, and the gorgeous picture appearing in the paper the next day! Antiques turned out to be our lifelong connection and we enjoyed shopping at dozens of sales over the years. When we got together yearly for our "Lipton Weekend" on Long Beach Island, we always hit the Antique Stores and the Garage Sales. And when the Viking Village Antique Fair happened to be scheduled for the same weekend, we were in Heaven and spent hours there! I was a great admirer of Karen's Quilting Expertise and she amazed me with her ability to create her own patterns and color schemes. She was a true artist! But there was really nothing Karen couldn't do and I truly enjoyed being with this talented woman and talking with her for every one of the 55 years I knew her!
