Obituary of Gloria M Allaman
It is with such heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Gloria Allaman, a long-time resident of Denville who passed away on April 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Gloria was born in Jersey City to Nicholas and Catherine Fischer in December of 1927. She was raised in Denville, New Jersey, alongside her two brothers, Nicholas, and Richard Fischer. Gloria graduated from Rockaway High School, and made a career as a metal plating technician for Aircraft Radio Corporation in Boonton; where she then met her future husband, George Allaman. While this was her primary career, Gloria was an extremely hard worker and often held up to three jobs at a time. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family, who she loved so much.
Gloria and George started their life together with a son from her previous marriage and his four adult children from his previous marriage, and eventually their grandchildren. Then went on to have 2 daughters together, Gloria and Adell. They raised their family in the Indian lake section of Denville.
Family came first, she was always finding new ways to help and uplift them. She was dedicated to collecting donations from community businesses for her grandchildren’s school tricky trays, sitting store front yearly to collect and donate to the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association and various other fundraisers every year.
Her family remarks that Gloria had a smile that could light up the room, a great sense of humor and generosity that ran so deep, her true passion was helping people. She was friendly and talkative, which led her to being able to make friends wherever she went. Having grown up through the Great Depression, she learned the value of a dollar at an early age, she was always looking for a good deal, enjoyed frequenting yard sales and believed in utilizing and reusing belongings to the fullest. She had an incredible love and compassion for animals, especially her pets.
The most inspiring characteristic Gloria had was her strength. Throughout her life, Gloria was faced with many trials and tribulations, including the tragic loss of her beloved daughter, Adell and two grandchildren, Nicole, and an unborn baby girl. Despite all odds, Gloria persevered. She had an extreme resiliency and was able to overcome the adversities that confronted her with grace and compassion. Throughout all things, she held her family close and made sure they knew how loved each and every one of them were in her own special way.
And though we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those who passed before her; her parents, Nicholas and Catherine Fischer, her brothers, Nicholas and Richard Fischer, her husband, George Allaman, her daughter, Adell Allaman and her granddaughters, Nicole and unborn baby girl. It is now that we must look to the future. Her surviving family members will now be tasked with carrying on her legacy of strength and love. Gloria’s family includes her two children, Jay R. Alexander (Joan), Gloria Allaman-Mahoney (James), her four grandchildren, Jessica Zotto (Anthony), James Mahoney, Jessica Uber (Marc), Heather Mahoney (Joshua Perez), her six great grandchildren, Mason, Logan, and Adell Nicole Zotto, Hailey Mahoney, and Wesley and Vivian Uber, as well as a wealth of friends who will remember her fondly.
A private family service will be held for Gloria Allaman, but please take this time to reflect on your memory of her and leave a condolence, share a memory, or light a candle to continue to let her light shine!
