Obituary of Alfred Penkala
It is with great sadness that we must announce the loss of Alfred Penkala, who passed
away on March 4th , 2024 at St. Clare’s Hospital of Dover.
Alfred Penkala immigrated to the United States from Poland in the mid 1970’s, and was
later joined by his wife, Genowefa, and his son, Wieslaw. Alfred was a quiet and thoughtful man
who had a deep love for the Lord and would spend his days praying for his loved ones and
family members. His dedication to God was never ending and he was truly a servant of the
Spirit. Alfred was also very intelligent and loved to stay up to date on current events and
information by reading as often as he could. Those who were close to him knew that Alfred had
a quick wit and a cutting sense of humor that would often catch people off guard.
The memories that Alfred’s friends and family have of him are now priceless, and will be
cherished forever. Although he has passed on, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace
and is now reunited in Heaven with his loving wife, Genowefa Penkala, and his beloved son,
Wieslaw Penkala. It is now that we look to those he leaves behind to carry on his memory of
kindness and generosity. Alfred’s survivors include his granddaughter, Nicole (David); great
granddaughters, Natalie and Eleanor; daughter-in-law Margarita, and his sister Helena.
A public visitation for Alfred will take place on Thursday, March 14th from 4 to 7 PM. A
Mass of Catholic Burial will take place the following day, Friday, March 15th at 10 AM at St.
Mary’s Church, Denville. A graveside service will he held immediately following mass at Gate of
Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Please leave a condolence, share a memory, or light a candle
to continue to let Alfred’s light shine!
