Obituary of Patricia Ann Zayac
Patricia “Pat” Zayac passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at CareOne in Parsippany, NJ with her loving family and friends by her side, after a short struggle with Brain Cancer. She had shared 82 years of unconditional love, unwavering faith, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Pat was born in Boonton on December 14, 1941 to the late Martin “Marty” and Mildred “Millie” DiGuiseppi. She was the only child to bless Marty and Millie’s household. She grew up in Boonton, graduated from Boonton High School in 1958, and created lifelong relationships. One of her most important relationships formed was with a special man named Jacob “Jack” Zayac. In 1965, this relationship blossomed, turning friends into lovers. The happy couple married on December 21, 1968. Their lifelong journey together began in Escanaba, Michigan; where they both became parents. After their daughter was born, the blissful family of three relocated to their forever home in Rockaway, NJ. Pat had a successful career as an Executive Secretary with Allied Signal/Bendix/Honeywell in Morristown, NJ. She retired in 2008 and her and Jack became full-time babysitters for their two granddaughters, Jessica and Danielle.
Pat was a devout Catholic, having been an active member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Rockaway for over 45 years. She eagerly participated in St. Monica’s Guild and The Rosary Society and enjoyed watching the children during “Mommy & Me” Bible Study group. She was always on the go, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, throwing parties for family and friends for holidays, and helping others. Along with her husband, Pat loved to travel all over the world. She loved traveling so much, that she planned two trips with her daughter, son-in-law, and her two granddaughters to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Italy as a graduation gift to her granddaughters. Above anything else, Pat enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved eating at Applebee’s, Olive Garden, or anywhere French fries were being served.
She leaves a legacy of happy memories in the hearts of her cherished family; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and George Waskas; her precious granddaughters, Jessica and Danielle; her caring siblings-in-law, Robert and Linda Zayac and Andrea (the late Buddy) Paine; and her dear niece and nephews, Bobby, Andrew, Linny, Kelli, and Sean.
