Obituary of Ann Urbanowicz
Ann Urbanowicz July 16, 1950 – January 13, 2024
Ann Urbanowicz (nee Cieri) was born and raised in Hudson County, NJ, the youngest of 3 children. She spent her elementary and high school years in Catholic school. She obtained her pilots’ license, became a mother, and worked as a medical assistant and phlebotomist in hospital and doctors’ office settings throughout the 1970s and ‘80s. After earning her LPN and RN in the ‘90s, she practiced nursing with compassion and skill that went above and beyond those degrees.
Ann’s dedication to her family was unmatched; she loved dearly each of her roles as wife, mother and grandmother, tirelessly journaling her thoughts and adventures with us, as well as the occasional song or poem. She was a big fan of word games and Jeopardy, and a good sport during cards, Boggle and Sorry!
We are all glad Ann eventually turned her attention to her beautiful voice, developing and honing her craft as a mezzo-soprano in musical theatre, showcases, and operas; most recently she was a member of the choir at First Presbyterian Church. That was how she was happiest: singing.
She is survived by her husband Mike; daughter Amy Nesta (Nicolas); sister Catherine; brother Daniel; mother-in-law Elizabeth; sisters-in-law Marie and Mariana (Bob); granddaughters Francesca and Alexandra; and stepsons Stephen (Shannon), Spencer, and Luca as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved cat, Mischief, who will be laid to rest with her.

A public visitation for Ann will be held on Thursday, January 18th from 4 to 7 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19th at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Hackensack, 64 Passaic St, Hackensack, NJ, with an interment service to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair, NJ.
