Obituary of Angelo Gilio Dalbon

Please share a memory of Angelo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Angelo Dalbon; a Rockaway resident who touched the hearts of so many with his kindness and generosity.

Angelo was born in March of 1952 to Gilio and Helen Dalbon in the Bronx. He lived there until graduating high school, then moved on to serving in the United States National Guard. He moved around throughout his life, but there was always one constant; his best friend. Angelo and Emilio were as close as brothers for a very long time. They worked together at Master Grinding Company of Rockaway and Angelo even lived with Emilio and his wife, Rita, for a time. Angelo was a fiercely loyal friend who cared so deeply about the friends he had.

Angelo was extremely dedicated to his work. He would travel with Emilio to different restaurants, providing services and making people happy. Emilio remarks that Angelo had a “can-do” attitude that meant he stopped at nothing to provide a job well done. He was a hardworking man who never complained about anything and took life in stride. As Angelo worked, he forged friendships with the clients he would visit and would even bring them gifts. His specialty that many would remember are his signature “boozy cherries” that were sure to put hair on your chest. In addition to his clients, Angelo has such a generous spirit that if you made mention of something you liked, he would have it in hand for you the next time he saw you. He was just that kind of man; dedicated, compassionate, and kind. He left a mark on the lives of so many and will be remembered fondly.

Though we are saddened by his absence, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace. Angelo’s survivors include his best friend and chosen family, Emilio and his wife Rita, his sister, Diane Chiodi and her husband John, his nephews, Matthew (Annika) and Jason (Debbee), his great nieces and nephews, Tyler, Sabrina, Jackson, Nicholas, Gabriella, Alexander, as well as many members of his extended family, loving friends, colleagues, and customers who will miss him and cherish his memory always. Because Angelo had such a generous and kind spirit, please honor his life by doing something generous for someone else.

A memorial visitation for Angelo will be held on Saturday, January 13th from 10 AM to 12 PM with a funeral service beginning at 11:00. All services will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services of Denville, NJ. Please share a memory, leave a condolence, or light a candle to continue to let Angelo’s light shine!
