Obituary of Judith Lorraine Durkin
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Lorraine Durkin who passed away in the presence of her family on November 20th, 2023. She was a kind and caring woman who will be dearly missed.
Judy was born in May of 1945 to Arthur and Doris Thompson. She was raised alongside her 3 siblings and graduated from Morris Hill High School. In her adult life Judy worked as a secretary and spent many years serving the Warner Lambert Pharmaceutical company. Even after her retirement she kept up with the friends she made there by joining the retirees club of Warner Lambert. She was also a member of the Nor-Bu Lodge in Rockaway and attended many functions there. She was also a member of the ladies’ auxiliary club of the Rockaway Fire Department. In her free time, Judy loved to spend time with her husband, Robert Durkin. One of their favorite activities was to go to car shows as Robert was an avid collector of Studebaker cars. Judy was also very close with her nephew, Fred Dalton, and his family.
Though we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with those who passed before her; her husband, Robert Dennis Durkin, her sister, Doris Reardon and her husband Ronald, and her parents, Arthur and Doris Thompson. It is now that we look to those she leaves behind to carry on her memory of love and kindness. Judy is survived by her brothers, Arthur J. Thompson and his wife Pamela, William J. Thompson and his wife Beverly, her nephew, Fred Dalton and his wife Shirley, and her great-nieces and nephew, Matthew, Christine, and Mandy. Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
All services for Judith will be private under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, or share your favorite memory of Judy here to continue to celebrate her life and let her light shine.
