Obituary of Lillian Ann Riley
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Lillian “Ann” Riley, a long-time Boonton resident who passed away on November 14th, 2023.
In July of 1938, Ann was born to Leon and Dorothy Schneper in Summit, New Jersey. She was raised in Whippany alongside her two brothers. She graduated from Morristown High School and began to continue her education. Ann married Bob Riley, and the two brought 3 wonderful children into the world together. Though Ann and Bob’s union did not last forever, their love for their children did.
Ann began a career as a bookkeeper, working at many establishments over the years, but spent over 20 years working for William Blanchard Construction. She also served as a volunteer for the Visiting Nurse Association. In her free time, Ann liked to garden, spend time with her pets, and indulge in her many hobbies, including Tap Dance and Ice Skating. One thing she was exceptionally skilled at was creating works of art with stained glass. She crafted a window piece with her daughter that is actually now installed in Bible Fellowship Church of Denville. She had a love for music and took piano lessons all her life. After retirement she played the xylophone in the local Senior Band. Lillian was also a proud Daughter of the American Revolution; a fact her daughter found while searching through genealogical records.
Ann’s family remarks that she was a sweet and compassionate woman who had a good sense of humor, a generous spirit, and loved her family more than anything. She has made an impact on the lives of so many and her absence will be keenly felt by all who knew and loved her. And though we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace. We look now to those who came before her to carry on her memory of kindness and love. Her survivors include her children, Susan Weatherford (Bryan), Robert Riley (Dawn), Karen Humphreys (the late Gerard), her grandchildren, Sean Humphreys (Kerri), Andrew Humphreys (Ricci), Bryan Weatherford III, Sarah Riley, Jacob Riley, her dear great-grandchild, Charlize “Charley” Humphreys, her siblings, William Schneper (Susan), Fred Schneper (Sally), as well as a wealth of cousins, friends and neighbors who will remember her fondly.

Hours of public visitation for Ann are scheduled for Saturday, November 25th from 2 to 4 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville, New Jersey. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of this wonderful woman!
