Obituary of Shirley L. Vose
Shirley Louise Vose (Miller) passed away on November 7, 2023 at the age of 91. Born and raised in Richmond, PA, she moved with her husband Donald to Denville, NJ where she lived for over 45 years before moving to Rockaway, NJ.
After graduating from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, Shirley was a teacher in the Denville Township School District for over 25 years. After retirement, she was an active member of the Morris County Retired Teachers Association.
Along with her husband Donald, she was very active in the Denville Rotary Club where she earned a Paul Harris Fellow Award for her volunteer activities. She was also a member of Denville Community United Methodist Church for many years.
Shirley was pre-deceased by her parents, Wilmer and Caroline Miller, her beloved husband Donald and infant son, Gregory.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Thomas Vose & his wife Linda and Susan & her husband John Johnson. Also, grandchildren Tom Vose & his wife Karyn, Kevin Johnson & his wife Caitlin, Cassandra Vose & her husband Tom Warren, Bryan Johnson & his wife Katlyn, Jeff Johnson & his wife Katie and Lauren Johnson. Plus, great-grandchildren Parker, Brayden, Kensley and Jack Johnson and Autumn Vose, with another on the way.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11th from 10 – 12 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Funeral Service will begin promptly at 12 pm, with a private burial immediately following. Shirley will be laid to rest with her husband Donald in Denville Cemetery. Memorial Donations are being accepted in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation.
