Obituary of Cynthia Joy “Blauvie” Platt

Cynthia Joy Platt Blauvie, 76, died on Friday May 9, 2003 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ.
She was born and raised in Boston Mass. To Dr. Robert Montraville and Dorothy Bradford Green. She was educated at John D. Runckle School, Girls Latin School, Tufts University with a BA in Sociology and MS in Occupational Therapy.
Cynthia devoted four decades to the professional life of a homecare therapist serving in the Boston area; Connecticut; New York City; Marietta, Ohio; Parkersburg, W. Virginia; and the Northern NJ.
She moved to Denville NJ 38 years ago, and devoted her personal life to raising her three sons, and environmental issues. She was an avid downhill and cross-country skier, musician, watercolorist, and student of nature.
She was a founding member of the Morris Highlands Audubon Society, and participated in the Masterwork Chorus, New York Chorale Society, The Church of the Saviour Choir in Denville, NJ and the Morristown United Methodist Church Chancel Chorus.
Her memberships included Tourne Coalition of Morris County, the Manomet Bird Observatory of Manomet, Mass, National Audubon Society, NJ Conservation Foundation, World Wildlife Fund, Noahs Arc, Shakespeare Festival, Morris Museum, Friends of the Rockaway River, New York City Opera, Morris County Art Assoc., South Shore Art Assoc. in Ma.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years Peter. Three sons John Nicholas Platt of Wayland, Ma. Andrew Bourne Platt of Mendham, NJ, and Robert Warren Platt of New York. Eight Loving siblings Dolly Darling of Nequom, Wisc., Widge Fowler of Duxbury, Ma., Bob Green of Bainbridge Island, Wa., Laurie Baker of Wolfeboro, NH, Ariel Tose of Hingham, Ma., Dr. Gareth Green of Boston, Ma., Galen Green of Manomet, Ma., and Dr. Winslow Green of Lexington, Ma.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday May 18, 2003 at 1:00 AM at the Church of the Saviour 155 Morris Avenue Denville, N. J. Donations are being accepted to Leukemia Society 1421 E. 12 Mile Rd., Building A, Madison Height, MI 48071-2653 would be appreciated..
