Bob was not only a loving and caring person to his wife and sons, he also had a wonderful relationship with Margaret McGirr, the mother of Joyce and me. He was able to make her laugh and keep her involved in family life. when she was alone. There are so many instances of how wonderful of a man he was, including so much that he did for her. i got to know bob through his son and my brother son rob, who i got to know because of the beautiful madness that was the internet around fifteen years ago.
because bob was an ardent lover of the art that is dropping silly one-liners, we started chatting over his comments on my posts, which ever so often would consist just of a "behave yourself!" wherever in the world i went - a silly one-liner that i grew fond of.
since i am from berlin, there was a lot to connect over as well, and it was both amazing and somehow totally naturally to finally welcome bob and joyce here in berlin a few years ago. we ended up going to a party together, a memory both of us kept coming back to over the years the pandemic kept us apart.
i never got to see bob for a second time, and while i am deeply saddened by that, i also cherish the fact i got to meet the man, and totally in his prime, too.
never leave the clouds, bob - but you better behave yourself, my friend!

I always remember when I would have to deliver this fine man’s mail. I would always have to write a little note to him, and he was so appreciative of it. The world Lost , awesome man , who great sons, and had a spot on impeccable taste for knowing bands and music. Let’s hope the Jets can win the Super Bowl for him. Rest in peace, sir

That was very touching and beautiful. He marched to his own drummer and lived one hell of a life. He was one of the kindest and most genuine men I’ve ever known.
One of the things I loved most about your dad was that he was TRULY interested in and truly cared about other people. He made you feel special and interesting whenever he talked to you, and made a point to actually take more than just a superficial interest in people’s lives—which is so rare.
I loved the time I got to spend with your dad and mom, and the conversations he and I have had through messages through the years. I’m going to miss the spark that guy added to the world.

I am so very sorry for your loss. We all loved Uncle Bob so much. He always had great stories and was such fun to be around. I thought he was the happiest and most optimistic person I’ve known. We could tell how close you all were and how proud he was of you all. Our thoughts and love are with you as Uncle Bob is laid to rest.

My classic remembrance of Bob from February 1969 in San Francisco. A weekend visit from the language school in Monterey. The happy, warm smile and wave will always be a favorite memory. Rest in Peace dear friend. My heartfelt condolences to Joyce and the entire familly.

Joyce, Rob, Michael, Ari and Warren. I am so deeply sorry for the sudden illness and passing of Uncle Bob and the pain of loss this has for each of you. On Saturday, in mom’s hospital room, Shari read aloud your personal tribute that you wrote on Facebook Rob. We all had tears and smiles on our faces. It was beautiful! It was perfect! I know how much Bob will be missed and I know how much he will be celebrated. These past few weeks have been difficult for all of us, and my words don’t adequately express all that I’d like to say, but I am so glad that you will be able to lay Bob to rest with a funeral mass Joyce, I am sure it will bring you some comfort to know he is at peace. After having married into the family, the first time I met "Uncle Bob" he was genuinely open and ready to adopt another nephew. True to what I know of Bob, he was anxious to get to know my story with an open, non-judgemental and loving heart.
