Obituary of Ralph I. Scoville III
Ralph I. Scoville III passed away peacefully at his home in Denville, New Jersey on November 10, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed, never forgotten, and always loved.
Ralph was born in West Cornwall, Connecticut on a summer day in June. He grew up and worked on his family’s dairy farm with his brother and sisters until college, where he attended Drew University. At Drew, not only did he graduate with a bachelors degree in Mathematics and Philosophy, but he found his first true love: RUGBY! After a brief return home, he moved to NJ, and then the real fun began. He met his now wife, his forever love, Marta “T” Scoville, and stayed in New Jersey where he established himself as an active community and Indian Lake member. His specialty in phone, communications, and information technology meant his career title changed as the world did, finishing as a loyal employee to ECS Group in Jefferson, NJ.
Ralph was lucky enough to have a hockey team move into town, where he was able to cheer on his favorite team, the New Jersey Devils! He spent many games with his wife and kids making memories and having fun. He started playing rugby at Drew University, where he dedicated much of his time to their alumni program. He continued playing rugby with the Morris Rugby team, with whom he was able to spend over 25 years and create millions of memories. He later became involved in the Moose Lodge, most notably lodge #541 with the nicely planted flowers. He travelled and spent time with his family and made new friends every step of the way.
Ralph loved with all his heart, and his love of life and sense of humor will live on in infamy. His memory will continue to live on through his dedicated wife and adventure partner of 37 years, Marta “T” Scoville of Denville, NJ; his loving children Catherine “Katie” Marta Scoville; Jacob Eduardo Scoville and his wife Michelle, their daughter Ava Rose Scoville, his beloved granddaughter. As well as his siblings Grace Kandefer, Eliza Cleaveland, Frederick Scoville, and Maria Bonetti, as well as their extended families. He had many loving nieces and nephews and will be missed by all.
A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, November 15th from 3:00-7:00 pm at Noman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.
