Obituary of Rose LaPallo

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rose LaPallo passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Basking Ridge. She had shared 96 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born in Calascibetta, Sciliy, Italy to the late Pietro and Francesca Spitale, Rose was one of three children to bless the Spitale household. At the age of two, Rose and her family immigrated to the United States and settled into Bayonne, NJ. Rose graduated from Bayonne High School, Class of 1943. She met her soulmate, Phillip LaPallo, and they were married on May 18, 1947. They raised three children, Joanne, Barbara and Frank. Rose was a devoted mother to each of them and a devoted wife to Phil. The family moved to Denville in 1966, and Denville remained Rose and Phil’s home for the rest of their days. Rose was an excellent cook and no one went hungry in her house. She was famous for her homemade Italian meals and cookies. She gave new meaning to the definition wife, mother, and homemaker. Rose went above and beyond in caring for her family. She was the ultimate seamstress, making clothes for her husband, children, and extended family. When the children were grown, Phil and Rose enjoyed traveling, making trips to visit their kids, as well as trips to Hawaii and to visit family in Italy, to name a few. In 1996, Phil went home to Heaven and Rose found solace in joining the Denville Seniors organization where she made lasting friendships.

Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Mom is now reunited with her beloved husband, her adored daughter, Barbara, her parents, and her siblings, Santo and Angelina.

She leaves only joyful memories to her treasured children, Frank and his wife Wendy of Los Angeles, CA and Joanne of Bedminster, NJ; her loving sister-in-law, Josephine Spitale; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 16th from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 pm at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Please light a candle, leave a condolence, and share your favorite memory of Rose here to continue to celebrate the incredible life she bestowed upon us.
