Obituary of Barbara Gail Poggi

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Barbara Gail Poggi passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Merry Heart Senior Care Services in Succasunna. For 77 years, she shared her unconditional love, infectious laughter, amazing memories along with countless, selfless acts of kindness, with her family and friends.

Born in Morristown to the late Alfred and Lorraine Woodruff, Barbara was raised in Denville. After graduating High School, she attended Bethany College in West Virginia. It is there where she met the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Poggi. Together the happy couple settled into Hackettstown to begin a family of their own; and subsequently they have remained ever since. Together they owned and operated a 7-Eleven convenience store in Morris Plains for many years. For her entire life, Barbara was a hard and dedicated worker - the proof being that she only just retired at the age of 74, only a few years ago.

Barbara was swept away by the magic of Disney.  Throughout the years she acquired many memorabilia items. She was an avid collector of many things and loved reading romance novels. Above anything else, her family was her pride and joy. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Ted who passed in 2001.

She leaves only joyful memories to her loving children, Robyn Poggi and her husband Jim Barscheski, Theodore “Teddy” Poggi, and Kevin “Scotty” Poggi and his wife Michele; her cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Kristen, and Katelyn; her treasured grandpups, Sheldon, Winston, Ryley, and Oreo; and extended family and dear friends.

All services will be private. Barbara will be buried with her husband Ted in First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in New Vernon. Memorial Donations are being accepted in her memory to the American Cancer Society by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Barbara here to continue to celebrate the incredible life she endowed to us.
