Obituary of Josephine Di Cicco
Josephine Di Cicco passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Lincoln Park Care Center. She had shared nearly 100 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and incredible memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in Offida, Italy to the late Nicola and Giovanna Zazzetti, she was one of two daughters to bless their household. In 1928, after her father, Nicola, had paved the way for his family, Josephine along with her mother and sister were reunited with Nicola in the United States. This happy family settled into the Corona section of Queens, NY. After graduating High School, Josephine went on to Sewing School. She married the love of her life, Elia “Leo” Di Cicco on April 8, 1951 and the rest is history. They had one beautiful daughter and that is when Josephine became a full-time homemaker, wife, and Momma.
In addition to being the best Momma she could be, always making sure her daughter wanted for nothing, she was also an avid Yankees fan and could often be found watching baseball games on TV. In addition, she had a deep appreciation for American vehicles. Above all, her passion was music and this stayed with her for her entire life. She was a very talented violinist and was a member of Orchestra Amateur Symphony in NY for 18 years. Josephine also played the Oboe and Clarinet. She truly was a one-of-a-kind wife, mother, grandma, “GG”, and friend. We will always treasure and remember her fondly in our hearts and souls. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing we have the greatest guardian Angel watching out for us from above and she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Leo, sister, Evelyn, and parents.
She leaves only joyful memories to her treasured daughter, Michelina “Micki” Di Cicco and son-in-law, Allan Ryan; her cherished grandchildren, Tim and Danielle Leary; her adored great-grandchildren, Ayana Ryan and Jayden Henderson; and many extended family and dear friends.
