Benjamin Spitz passed away on Wednesday Jan. 1, 2003 at Pine Acres Nursing Home, Madison, NJ. He was 92 years Old.
Mr. Spitz was born in Hungary and came to the United States when he was 2 years old. He settled in lower Manhattan. Mr Spitz lived in Queens for 25 years and the Whitestone/Flushing area for many years.
Mr. Spitz received a B.S. in 1931 and his Masters Degree in 1934 from City College of New York. He taught High School Math for 40 years at the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan. He was a Senior Counselor.
Mr. Spitz wives predeceased him, Mary in 1962 and Agatha Welsch in 2001.A daughter predeceased him, Edith Howard. Mr. Spitz daughter Susan Persson lives in Indian Lake section of Denville, NJ. Surviving his five grandchildren Russell Howard of Washington, DC, Matthew Howard of Sunnyvale, CA, Meredith Persson of Denville, NJ, Mrs. Brett Dooley of Martinsville, VA, and Nick Kessler of Washington, DC. Surviving three great grandchildren, Samantha Howard, Sydney Howard, and Timothy Dooley.
Mr. Spitzs funeral service will be held Friday Jan 3 at 11:00AM at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave, Denville, NJ. Interment Cedar Park Cemetery Paramus, NJ.
