Obituary of Dolores C. Bailon
Matriarch, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend to all. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dolores Carlota Bailon Zuniga. Dolores passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Overlook Medical Center. She had shared 68 years of unconditional love, laughter, and priceless memories which we will forever hold near and dear to our hearts.
Born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to the late Rosa Teolinda Penafiel and Elias Zuniga, she was the fifth of eight blessed siblings. A natural born caregiver, Dolores was born to be a Mother and she excelled at it. Always going above and beyond to make sure her family and friends were fed, she would prepare special meals for specific family members depending on their individual tastes, often making multiple dinners. A phenomenal cook, her meals were always made from scratch with tender love and care and you could taste it. This proud Mother of four was always the life of the party; she knew how to have fun and make others laugh like no other. Dolores got the biggest kick out of scaring her children as she would quietly be waiting in the dark when they arrived home after curfew. She would also hide around the corner to anyone that approached, turning around quickly to scare them and make them scream so everyone could have a good laugh about it. Consistently putting others before herself, Dolores would give a stranger the shirt off her back and expect nothing in return. That is a true sentiment to the type of person she was. She was always ready for a good time and had a laugh that would make even the saddest person giggle.
If you were blessed enough to have crossed paths with Dolores, you would know that her family was always the first priority in her life. Above anything else, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her world, and she made sure they knew it. Without fail, she never missed a birthday, graduation, sporting event, or special occasion in her family’s lives. Dolores was strong, independent, and a true fighter – she was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others, and had a genuine heart of gold. Our Matriarch will forever be missed and treasured in our hearts and souls, until we meet again. Although we are deeply saddened by her sudden passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her parents and sister, Enriqueta Cabezas.
She leaves only joyful memories to her husband, Victor O. Bailon; her loving children, Alex Solorzano and his wife Ivelisse, Elvia Campofiori and her husband Jay, Rosa Fresse and her husband Steven, Carla Osorto and her husband Francisco; her cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Joshua, Kiara, and Kamila Solorzano, Henry and his wife Ady Campofiori, Elisa and Emily Campofiori, Samantha, Amanda, Lionel, Leilany, and Liam Fresse, and Jeremiah and Juliana Osorto; her treasured great-grandchildren, Jay Joel and Aleah Campofiori; her caring siblings, Francisco Cabezas, Panchita Montenegro, Josefina Villalobos, Martha Zuniga, Norma Canas, Elias Zuniga, and Rosa Marcial; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
