Alfonso Joseph Calcagno, 83, died at home in Denville on Wednesday March 12, 2008.
Mr. Calcagno was born in Morristown, NJ he was the son of the late Salvatore and Marianna Calcagno. He was a 1943 graduate of Morristown High School. He served with the United States Marine Corps during WWII in Siapan and Guam. Warner Lambert Co., Morris Plains, NJ employed him for 36 years as a Supervisor General Diagnostics. He was a member of the VFW Post #3401, Morris Plains, NJ; he enjoyed Bowling and playing Golf. He was a Denville resident for 50 years and was a parishioner of St. Marys Church.
Two sisters, Virginia Milelli and Mary Sarocco, predeceased him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Ann (Donnamaria) Calcagno, his son, Steven Calcagno and wife Charlene of Ann Arbor, MI, his daughter Donna of Denville and his three granddaughters Stefanie, Lisa, and Jessica all of Michigan, his sisters, Sally Carrano of Mercerville, and Lucille Hadley of Whippany.
His funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Alfonso), on Monday March 17th at 9:00am for a 10:00am Liturgy of Christian Burial service at St. Marys Church. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday March 16th from 2-4 and 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the Hospice of the Visiting Nurse of Northern NJ, 38 Elm St., Morristown, NJ 07960 would be appreciated.
