Gilbert Arthur Donovan Sr. passed away on Sunday December 22, 2002. He was 70 years old. Born in Morristown, NJ he had lived in County Donegal, Ireland until the age of 13 before moving back to the United States. He has been a resident of Denville for 40 years and belonged to St. Marys Church and the Irish American Association of New Jersey.
He had been a Tractor-trailer driver for a local oil company for 35 years before retiring in 1991.
Gilbert had served on the USS Harkness in Navy during the Korean War.
Surviving is his beloved wife Eugenia (nee Miller) Donovan of Denville. His loving children Susan Brita Wiss (and her husband Jay) of Parsippany. Denise Tiernan of Washington, NJ Gilbert Jr. (& his wife Hwanam) of East Rutherford, Glenn of Butte, MT Jane Mejia (& her husband Mario) of Morris Twp. His sister Eleanor Herbert of Boonton, Step Son Jonathan Miller of Wharton Grandchildren Vanessa, Trina, Joseph, Julie, Alessandra, Stephanie, Gil, Casey, Mario, and Liam. Great Grandfather of Sebastian and Tristan. Brother In-Law of Gladys C. ODonoghue of Morris Twp.
He is pre-deceased by his first wife Irene Campbell Donovan (1978). His parents Dennis (1957) and Delia (Gallagher) (1935) His Brothers Alfred (1975) and Dennis (1993).
Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Friday December 27 at 8:45 AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Marys Church at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown, NJ. Friends may visit on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Disabled American Veterans P.O.
