Obituary of Charles Edward Stanfield

Charles Edward Stanfield passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family following his last rights on Saturday, March 4 at 87 years old. Charles was born in Staten Island, NY to Charles Irving and Anne Sweeney. He lived in Brooklyn and Queens NY, Matawan NJ, Warren Twp NJ, Seneca SC, and Milford Pa. Most recently Charles moved to Denville where him and his wife spent their last years together. Charles was a devoted and honorable man who served his country as a teenage lifeguard, a United States Marine honorably discharged in 1952. Charles retired after a long career employed as a Sandy Hook Harbor Pilot. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. Charles loved and enjoyed his time hunting, walking, bicycling, hiking, kayaking, camping, and smoking his pipes and cigars. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Stanfield; daughter Carol and son Billy; he is survived by his sons Charles and Bobby Stanfield; daughter Linda Hartman (husband Kenneth); cherished grandchildren Chelsea, LeLe and Andy Hartman; and "man's best friend" Frank. Friends and relatives may visit on Tuesday, March 7 from 4-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8 at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Interment to follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge.
