Kenneth J. Henderson, age 83, formerly of Mendham and Mountain Lakes, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Victoria Mews Assisted Living, Boonton where he had been a resident for the past five years. Born in Newark November 15, 1926, he was the son of the late George and Edith (Hoskins) Henderson and raised in Union. In his early years, Kenneth was employed by Reaction Motors in Denville, where he met his wife, Elizabeth (Betty). He was later Personnel Manager for ACF Industries in Manhattan, and during his retirement sold real estate with Betty Bennett in Mendham, NJ. Kenneth served his country in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific theater. He was actively involved with the Mendham Patriots Youth Wrestling Program, and was an avid golfer at Flanders Valley Golf Course. He also loved the outdoors and his annual trips to Pennsylvania where he would hunt turkey. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Knack) Henderson. Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Sarah "Sally" Zahuta (Joseph) of Denville; and Anne Artrip (Matthew), of Odenton, MD; grandchildren, Peter, Katherine, John, and Sarah Zahuta, all of Denville; sister Virginia Freeman (Robert) of Westfield, NJ and Stuart, FL; nephews Bruce Freeman (Kathy), of Maplewood and Jon (Jill) of Westfield; and niece Cathy Thomlinson of Scotch Plains. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, Mendham. Please meet at church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may visit at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, from 2-5pm on Sunday January 2, 2010.
