Obituary of John Rocco Marra

John R. "Jack" Marra passed away at his home in Denville, NJ on September 29, 2018, surrounded by his family at the age of 88. Born in Shreveport, LA he lived in Denville, NJ since 1935. Jack proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Denville V.F.W. Post #2519 and St. John's Masonic Lodge in Mt. Lakes, NJ as well as the Church of the Saviour in Denville and the Telephone Pioneers. He worked for NJ Bell, and Verizon for 38 years before retiring in 1992. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan Marra in 1966, his sister Pauline Lewis in 1972, his nephew Michael J. Marra in 1980, and his grandnephew Alejandro Marra in 1994. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Priscilla Jane (Durr) Marra of Denville, NJ. He is also survived by his Loving Children Kathy and her husband Jim Devonmille of Rockaway, John Marra of Denville, as well as his granddaughter Jessica Devonmille of Caldwell, his brother Peter D. and his wife Ann Marra of Denville, and by his nephews Steven P. and his wife Mari, Peter J. Marra and David J. Marra, and grandnephews Michael J. Marra, Andrew Marra, and Christopher Marra. Visitation will be held on Monday October 1, 2018, from 4:00 – 8:00PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday October 2, at 9:30AM and then going to the Church of the Saviour in Denville for an 11:00 Funeral service. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, NJ. Memorial donations can be made in his memory to: V.F.W.
