Obituary of Joanne Z. Killmeyer

Please share a memory of Joanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joanne Z. Killmeyer passed away at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was 66 years young and her love, laughter and intelligence will be greatly missed.

She was born to Charles Lincoln Zwergel and Elise Margaret Schauli in Jamaica, Queens, New York. Eventually she moved to Denville where she would spend 25 years, raising her own family.

Joanne was widely educated and earned a doctoral degree in education from George Washington University, an M.B.A. from Fordham University, and a B.A. from State University of New York at Oneonta. She carried on her love for education and became a teacher at New York University, The New School, Cornell University and Manhattanville College.

In 2003 Joanne started her own business, possibilities and solutions, LLC. She was board certified executive coach, consultant and educator.

Joanne had a strong faith and was a member of Union Hill Presbyterian Church in Denville, NJ.  She loved to travel with her family and enjoyed playing games; especially board games, cards and puzzles.  Most importantly, her husband, children, and grandchildren had her heart.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 39 years, John “Jack” Killmeyer; adored children Jodianne Killmeyer, Todd (Jordan) Killmeyer, and John (Kathleen) Killmeyer; cherished grandchildren Katie and Lxs Mahtochiqala; loving sisters Janet Winey and Judith Buckridge; her cousin Jean Hagen; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
