My family visited the Bartels lake house beginning in the early 1950's. I always looked forward to getting a ride in Bill's boat.He was a perfect captain and forever loved Indian Lake.
Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making fun of his own amusing predicaments. Never did he complain.
I will miss bringing him homemade cookies and candies.He never had enough sweets.

Since I was an infant, there have been so many family memories. We had so much fun spending the day in Bill’s boat, eating burgers that Harry made and delivered to the boat and cruising Indian Lake. The Bartels (grandmother included) were more than friends. They were family. Bill’s smile and love of life have always been an inspiration. Now he can Rest peacefully and tease my dad, Joe.

For about 16 yrs of my life, from early childhood through high school, my family and I spent our summers in my grandparents house, immediately next to Billy’s family. We would swim together in Indian Lake right in front of our houses and I was a passenger in his boat for many years. No day was complete without spending hours with Billy. We followed professional wrestling together and he knew all the characters. He was an unforgettable character and a dear friend. I learned so much from him and I am deeply saddened by the passing of a great man.

Bill was a wonderful man! Kind funny and upbeat. As his Home care physician I enjoyed his jokes at the beginning of his visits. My one and only patient who survived on cookies chocolate and soda and yet never developed Diabetes. I’m saddened by his loss but know he is as peace. He always made the best of his disability and never ever complained.
Lastly I thank Megan and her family for allowing me to care for him. This family highlights what a wonderful family is in that they selflessly made sure Bill lived a happy life in his own home. Dr Gennaro Marino and family

In Loving Memory of Bill
Bill was a truly remarkable and kind-hearted man, with a wonderful sense of humor . I had the honor of being his caregiver during the last two years of his life, and in that time, he welcomed me into his life with open arms, embracing me as part of his family.
He had a gentle spirit and a comforting presence. Whenever I was worried or overwhelmed, he would simply say, “Don’t worry about anything,” and his words always brought peace. His support and kindness meant the world to me.
I loved Bill deeply. His passing has left a void in my heart—he took a piece of it with him. To me, he was not just someone I cared for; he was my American family.
I will never forget you, Bill.

I got to know Bill while I was employed by MCCarters Getty as their bookkeeper. Everyone who knew Bill loved him. He was always smiling and happy to be at the station. The McCarters treated their employees like family, especially Bill. We are all better people by knowing Bill and seeing how he loved life. He will be missed.
