Obituary of Salvatore Amodeo
Salvatore Louis Amodeo passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Livia Assisted Living in East Hanover. He had shared 103 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, priceless wisdom, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Salvatore was born in Brooklyn NY in 1919. After marrying his sweetheart Raffaela Calabrese, he was self employed as a photographer and photo finisher. He purchased a building in Brooklyn and established a business selling cameras and equipment, and did photo finishing.
After raising two sons, he became General Manager of Cameo Photo Finishing, also in Brooklyn. Years later, he and Rae built a beautiful home in Oakridge NJ, where he farmed two large gardens as well as an orchard of fruit trees.
His retirement to Toms River, NJ, allowed him to experience his passions for deep sea fishing, painting, playing the piano, building small model homes, and having his grandchildren come over in the summers to enjoy the shore, the amusement parks and Nana's incredible cooking.
He is survived by his sons Joseph, John, and their wives, Cathy and Janis, and his grandchildren Brandon, Jenna, Gregory, Sean and Elizabeth. Sal is also survived by his sister, Katherine, and extended family and friends. We will forever keep him in our hearts, memories, and words.
Public Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 9th from 1 - 3 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 10th at 10 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Salvatore's memory by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
Please leave a condolence, light a candle, or share your favorite memory of Salvatore here to continue to celebrate the incredible life he endowed to us.
